Preparing for the Future: Why I Updated My Will at 38 Weeks Pregnant

At 38 weeks pregnant, I’ve been checking things off my list — hospital bag, baby essentials, freezer meals, and yes… even my Last Will & Testament.

Let’s talk about it.

How many of you actually have a will?
Have you ever thought about what happens if life doesn’t go as planned?

For me, having a will is just as essential as having a birth plan. I’m not planning to die giving birth, but I also know that anything can happen. Writing my will wasn’t about fear — it was about love, responsibility, and legacy.

As a mom, a partner, and a businesswoman, planning for the best while being prepared for the worst is how I show up for my family. I can’t control everything that happens in life, but I can control how prepared we are for it.

Too often, our community doesn’t talk about estate planning until it’s too late. We shy away from the hard conversations — the “what ifs” that make us uncomfortable. But the truth is, avoiding the conversation doesn’t make the outcome any easier.

Do you have a will?
Do you know what would happen if you didn’t?

This isn’t about expecting the worst. It’s about loving deeply enough to plan beyond yourself — to make sure your family is protected, your wishes are clear, and your legacy continues with intention.

Preparing for the future isn’t morbid. It’s mature. It’s love in action.

So as I prepare to welcome this new life into the world, I’m also preparing to make sure everything I’ve built continues to support the ones I love — no matter what happens.
