Phoenix is 5
Wow. Five years.
It feels like just yesterday I held him in my arms for the first time—six pounds of pure love, born naturally, without intervention. My rainbow baby. My light after the storm.
Naming him was important to me. I didn’t just want a name that sounded good; I wanted something powerful, something that carried meaning. I wanted fire.
Phoenix
In Ancient Greek folklore, the phoenix is a mythical bird that is reborn from its own ashes, representing transformation, death, and renewal. After experiencing multiple miscarriages, I knew this name was meant for him. Phoenix is a symbol of new beginnings, a testament to rising again even when the odds seem impossible.
Calcifer
His middle name comes from Howl’s Moving Castle, one of my favorite anime films. Calcifer is a fire demon, once a falling star, caught before he could burn out. In the story, Howl gives Calcifer his heart, and they are forever connected. That connection spoke to me in ways I can’t fully explain. My son is my fallen star, and just like Howl, I have given him my heart.
Now, here we are. Five years later.
Five years of watching him grow into this sharp, curious, and loving little human. Five years of laughter, chaos, and endless questions. Five years of knowing that no matter what life throws at me, I will always have this incredible little firebird by my side.
Happy Birthday, Phoenix Calcifer. You are so deeply loved.
