On Saturday, October 16th, 2022 I attended A Letter To My Sisters: A Breast Cancer Documentary For Young Women hosted by Patty Jackson. This documentary was created by Dr. Nia Imani Bailey a radiation therapist and the Founder of Agape–Finding Your Purpose, Incorporating Your Faith Non-Profit Organization. This documentary gives some insight into the journey of young women dealing with their breast cancer diagnosis and life itself—while also highlighting prevention measures.

Not one eyes was dry watching this documentary. To hear these phenomenal women share their journey was truly amazing.

What stood out to me as well was how Dr. Nia honored all the breast cancer survivors that were in the room. My sister-in-love included.

A Letter To My Sisters: A Breast Cancer Documentary For Young Women

This documentary really shows you, that cancer in general does not discriminate. How you got to advocate for yourself and your health. Especially when you know something is wrong but healthcare providers are telling you it’s nothing. All these women had 1 thing in common, the felt a lump and were concerned and were told it wasn’t nothing to worry about because of their age.

The first woman to shared her journey, at the end of the documentary we learned that she passed away. A Letter To My Sisters, isn’t just a documentary to raise awareness. It’s a love letter to all our sisters our there, you are not alone.

Thank Nia.
