The Importance of Self-Care
I must say, these posts are truly lining up with my current life. I recently reactivated my Peloton bike membership. I haven’t been working out as much as I’d like, nor have I been taking my self-care seriously. Don’t even ask me when I last went to a nail salon! But doing the little things at home, which would normally be part of my self-care routine, just hasn’t been happening. It’s time to snap back into the journey and start living again.
I remember when I was stuck in the hospital with COVID in 2021 for a week. I told myself I wouldn’t let myself forget to live and enjoy my self-care as much as possible. It’s so easy to get caught up in everything happening around you and neglect the things that keep you grounded. But I’m learning that I deserve to feel good, physically and mentally, and it’s time to make myself a priority again.
Here’s my original Day 15 post:
Day 15: Self-Care
One of the most important things I’ve learned about loving yourself is… self-care.
Have you ever heard the phrase “you are what you eat”?
Love yourself enough to care about your health. Life may be short, but that doesn’t mean we should help shorten it.
Trust me, I understand. I LOVE FOOD TOO!
But self-care is also important.
I’m not saying you should wake up every morning and go for a 4-mile run, but take at least 10–20 minutes out of your day to exercise. Whether it’s before work or after work.
I’m sure we all know how important it is to be healthy, but here are my personal reasons why you should exercise:
- Exercise helps reduce depression
- Boosts oxygen to the skin and helps increase the natural production of collagen
- Reduces stress
- Aids in weight loss
- Improves your mental health and mood
When you feel good, you look good, and in return, your self-esteem and self-confidence grow.
Even if you have a full plate and think you’re too busy to exercise, there are ways to incorporate a 10-minute exercise routine into your day. Don’t overexert yourself to the point where you’re drained and stressed out.
Self-care is important for your body, mind, and soul.
My favorite time to exercise is after work. I love going for a walk, jog, or yoga. I always feel refreshed and renewed afterward.
A healthy you = a happy you!
You don’t need a gym membership to start.

Update 2024
As I look back at this post, I realize how much I need to be gentle with myself and allow space for the self-care that helps me show up for my life in a fuller, more vibrant way. I’m excited to start moving again, to take care of myself the way I deserve. Whether it’s taking a walk, getting back on my Peloton, or simply focusing on nourishing my mind and body, it’s all part of this ongoing journey to truly live.
P.S. If you haven’t already, please remember to check in with yourself and give your mind, body, and soul the care they deserve.
