Being home while being pregnant has been giving me more time to focus on blogging more. And lately I’ve been thinking about business and entrepreneurship which prompt me to write this blog post and also start my new project.

So, What is an entrepreneur?

By definition, an entrepreneur is a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses.

There’s no right or wrong way to being an entrepreneur but being an successful entrepreneur requires the right knowledge because being an entrepreneur is more than just starting and operating a business

First and foremost, ask yourself why you want to become an entrepreneur. What does it mean to create a business? What does entrepreneurship means to you?

Will you provide a service or sell products? Bring an idea to life? Take Reddit for example.

What are your long term and short term goals?

Will this be your main source of income ?

The common misconception of being an entrepreneur is the freedom that comes with it. And while being your own boss is nice, the responsibilities are also a lot.

Over the past few years I’ve seen so many individuals start their journey into entrepreneurship and many failed because they didn’t have the groundwork laid out. Nor, did they understood the true meaning of being an entrepreneur.

More importantly they were not prepared.

Being prepared is key to being successful. Even when it comes to chances, you have to be prepared for those unexpected chances. Being an entrepreneur comes with risks but calculated risks and unprepared risk are two different things and some people tend to lose more when they aren’t prepared or have a plan for those unexpected risks.

So, before you quit your steady income job to pursue entrepreneurship, ask yourself, what’s your plan? and how will you start out from the rest. Is entrepreneurship for you?
