Philadelphia, PA — As the holiday season approaches, Operation Turkey, the esteemed nationwide volunteer organization, is thrilled to announce its return to normal operations in 2023, with a mission to provide warm meals, care packages, and clothing donations to the homeless and less fortunate. With the support of over 40,000 dedicated volunteers, Operation Turkey will once again work tirelessly to ensure no one goes hungry on Thanksgiving Day.
Trudean Haye, Founder of ITAVFoundation, and Andrea Johnson, Founder of Girl U Can Do It, Inc, have been the driving force behind Operation Turkey on the East Coast for the past six years. Together, they have served over 10,000 meals to date, embodying the organization’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need. This year, their goal for the PA and the Tri-State area is 3,000 meals.
Operation Turkey operates entirely with volunteers—there are no paid employees. This remarkable community effort has become a beacon of hope for thousands across the nation, exemplifying the power of collective action in the pursuit of a common cause.
The request a meal link is now open, and Operation Turkey will deliver meals on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2023. Recipients can anticipate delivery between 10am – 2pm, bringing a warm and hearty meal to their doorsteps.
Each plate provided contains a hearty meal for one individual, featuring turkey, stuffing, vegetables, pie, and a beverage. Operation Turkey is dedicated to serving specific areas based on zip codes. Unfortunately, if you do not reside within the listed regions, we regret that we are unable to extend our services to your area. Orders can only be accepted from individuals residing in the designated zip codes.
Volunteers are encouraged to join in this heartwarming endeavor. To get started, simply complete the volunteer intake form, providing details about your preferred location and station. With a vast database of over 40,000 volunteers, there are countless opportunities to make a meaningful impact.
Donations are also a huge help. Just $5 can provide meals for two people. Every dollar donated goes directly to buying food and supplies for Thanksgiving Day.
Operation Turkey’s goal for 2023 is to deliver 65,000 meals nationally, on Thanksgiving Day. The estimated cost will be about $2.50 per meal, totaling around $162,500.00.
